We got a quote for a new 'Facnor' roller furler with new standing rigging for our long distance sailing. We also got our electrics certified so that they were ready for use whilst staying at the marina in Cornwall. We carried out jobs such as cleaning the deck and gave our boat an all-round tidy up after being in an 'end of season' condition. We also went through all areas of the boat to find out what goes where and where all of the electrics connect to.

The weekends after we arrived, we tried to get the engine working again, but we didn't know what caused it to seize. We originally thought we'd run out of fuel, but there was plenty of fuel left in the tank, so we started replacing the fuel filter, air filter, to no avail.... Then one day Mattis found that one of the outlets was blocked with a small amount of debris. This cleared all of our problems and we had a working engine again! Hearing our Beta 20 engine roar again truly was music to our ears. We moved Jingo from Plymouth to Cornwall, 30 minutes away, to a small marina in Millbrook. Mo completed Level 1 Dinghy Sailing Course (2 day weekend course). Before leaving Chichester on 2nd April, Mattis climbed the mast and replaced the steaming light, as we would need this for our trip overnight. We then sailed Jingo from Chichester to Plymouth. We left Chichester at 10:00 on Saturday 2nd April and arrived in Plymouth at 16:00 on Sunday 3rd April (~30 hours). Whilst on our way to Plymouth, at Start Point we lost power to our engine. From there on we sailed the rest of the way to Plymouth, which took about 4 hours. The passage distance from Start Point to Plymouth was 12Nm (nautical miles).
We had a look at 5 different boats, most of which were Contessa 32's and we knew on the day when we saw Jingo, she was the one. She had been on the market for nearly 8 months and for some reason was unable to sell. We could see no huge issues with her integrity or structure, so after a week or so of deliberating, we decided to put in an offer for Jingo. The owner accepted our offer and soon we were about to have a survey from a local surveyor. We were very happy with the survey results and decided to go ahead. We had several recommendations from the surveyor, before completing the sale and one of them was to replace the chainplates with new ones. So we spent a few weekends pulling out the old chainplates and Mattis fitted new ones, ready for our journey from Chichester to Plymouth. In March, Mo completed her Day Skipper Theory Course (5 days).
