This month we started planning on building a new rudder, repaired the hatchboard, bought a 3-blade propeller to replace our 2-blade propeller and serviced the winches.
Friday 7th - 9th April 2017
Mattis, along with 3 others sailed 'Integrity', a 43' Gentleman's Cutter from Plymouth to Mount's Bay (approximately 66nm) and back. They found some dolphins along the way...
We lightly sanded and waxed the cupboards and cupboard fronts with beeswax. The cupboard fronts are now back on after completing other jobs, such as cutting out the webs, fibreglassing and replacing the chainplates. Below are the before and after pictures...
24th April 2017
Last weekend, Mo completed an RYA Sea Survival course. This week, Mattis has been making the new rudder, out of Norwegian spruce and Mo polished the gelcoat, getting Jingo ready to go back in the water. Mo also sanded the fibreglass in the quarter berth and painted it. It was the first time it's seen paint in nearly forty years. The quarter berth was now looking a little bit more comfortable for sleeping in when we're on our watches.
